Tree service in Jarrell & Florence

Tree service for Jarrell and Florence — the north end of the county, where the tornadoes and the cedar are

Jarrell has been hit by tornadoes in 1997 and 2022; Florence and Andice are cedar-and-live-oak ranch country. We cover the whole north end from Georgetown, thirty minutes away.

The north end of Williamson County is two different places. Along I-35, Jarrell is booming — Sonterra alone is thousands of homes on what was pasture ten years ago — and it sits on a corridor that's seen the worst weather in the county: the F5 tornado of May 27, 1997 and the EF-1 that paralleled I-35 through town on March 21, 2022 while the EF-2 ran through Round Rock. West of there, Florence, Andice and the ranch land along Highway 195, FM 487 and CR 225 are Hill Country limestone under live oaks, post oaks and mile after mile of Ashe juniper, with the Bell and Burnet County lines close enough that we work across them.

Jarrell and Florence each have their own city rules, and most of the ground out here is outside any city or ETJ, where there are no tree regulations beyond the practical ones. Bartlett Electric and PEC run the lines depending on where you are. What doesn't change: oak wilt is in the north end too, so oaks get pruned July through January with painted cuts, and a dead post oak over a metal-roof barn gets a bucket truck, never a climber.

Questions from Jarrell & Florence homeowners

Is the 1997 Jarrell tornado still relevant to trees?

As history, yes — it's the reason the north end takes weather seriously. Practically, the trees around Jarrell today are mostly the young live oaks and elms planted with the new subdivisions since 2010, and the job there is structural pruning so they grow up strong, plus storm cleanup when the corridor gets hit again, as it did in 2022.

Do I need a permit to clear cedar near Florence?

Outside Florence's city limits and ETJ, no. Inside, the city has basic tree rules; we check. Cedar itself isn't protected anywhere in the county — the question is always the oaks and elms on the lot, which we flag and keep.

How long does it take you to get to Jarrell?

About twenty minutes up I-35 from Georgetown; Florence and Andice about thirty. For a tree on a house, usually within a couple of hours, any time.

Who trims near the power lines out here?

Bartlett Electric Cooperative in and around Jarrell, PEC toward Florence and Andice. Both clear their own primaries; the service drop is yours and they'll drop it on request so we can work.

Do you work across the county line into Bell and Burnet?

Yes — Salado, Prairie Dell, Briggs and Bertram on larger jobs.
